About Us

Tigware was created by Jane James. Jane was born and brought up in Tiptree, Essex. After leaving school in 1988, Jane studied a National Diploma in Art and Design at the Colchester College of Art and Design. She then went on to study a Higher National Diploma in Photography at the Kent College of Art and Design. After completing her studies Jane worked as a Graphic Designer, a Photographer, a Magazine Editor and a Communications Manager.

Jane started working with ceramics as a hobby to make interesting and educational tableware for her daughter Tegan (nickname Tig). Having her dinner on a special painted plate made meal times fun. Jane's hand painted ceramics became very popular locally and she was commissioned to produce numerous children's tableware.

Jane moved with her family to Jersey in 2007 and this has given her the opportunity to spend more time developing her ceramic art and to turn what was a hobby into a small local business called Tigware Ceramics after her daughter Tegan. Tigware Ceramics is a member of THE GUILD OF CERAMIC STUDIOS.

Tigware hand paints unique and interesting children's designs on a range of bisque cups, mugs, plates, bowls and figures. The ceramics are then glazed upto three times before being fired in a kiln at 1060c for twelve hours making them permanant and safe. These ceramics make an original gift for any occasion, new baby, birthdays, thank you, mother's day, christenings, weddings or even your pet. To add that extra special touch all our china can be individually personalised with a name or other message.

Jane also hand makes pottery fish, boats and birds . Each piece is individually hand crafted and painted with unique crystaline glazes. They are then mounted on reclaimed driftwood, collected from the local beaches in Jersey.
